Dignity, Indigenous Leadership, and Education
We must affirm dignity of all people. We must be a community where everyone receives a warm welcome and gracious hospitality regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual-orientation, or social status. Must cultivate positive self-image, self-sufficiency, hope and respect for self and others in the lives of the people in the community.
Residents must be involved in the total process of changing their lives and the environment. They are staff members, volunteers, board members. The leadership must make every effort to motivate and provide opportunities for residents invested in their own communities. The change must come from them In order for it to be sustainable.
Must make a commitment to educate the community. There must be an array of educational services for the community in order to break the cycle of poverty. There must be after school tutoring, violence prevention, Adult Basic Education. Life skills, job readiness, health education and vocational training.
